What is an alu clad window?
An alu clad (aluminium-clad) window is a composite. The outside face is powder-coated aluminium, which resists weather and holds its colour. The inside is timber or uPVC, which insulates and looks the way you want it to indoors.
This is how Internorm makes most of its windows. It means you get aluminium's durability and slim profile without the cold bridging of a fully metal frame, and you never repaint the exterior.

Colours and finishes
The aluminium can be specified in any RAL colour. Current favourites are dark greys, stainless-steel and metallic tones, with warm beiges and browns growing too. You can mix colours inside and out, and match your front door and sliding doors.

Aluminium and alu-clad windows: your questions answered
Is an alu clad window the same as an aluminium window?
Not quite. An alu clad window has an aluminium exterior over a timber or uPVC frame, which gives better insulation than solid aluminium. It looks like aluminium from outside.
Do alu clad windows need maintenance?
Very little. The powder-coated aluminium is maintenance-free apart from occasional cleaning.
